 There are a number of insurance companies that operate in South Africa - and each offers many products and often underwrite the policies offered by others. Of particular interest to women are the companies offering special benefits to women such as First for Women Insurance and Fenemenol Woman Insurance. Both offer a range of car and household insurance products specifically catering for, and benefitting, women. Life insurance companies also favour women - who tend to live longer - as a result monthly premiums tend to be lower.
Don't assume that the insurance companies that advertise the most, or are best known, offer the best cover and the best deals. Shop around. Make sure you understand the fine print and any exclusions (things that are not covered) before you sign.
